The City Reliquary proudly presents:
The English Kills Project
Thurs., Aug. 25 @ 7 PM
Admission: FREE
The ENGLISH KILLS PROJECT is a socially engaged, bio-art project founded by local artist Henry G. Sanchez. It presents new concepts for constructed wetlands and mussel habitats for Newtown Creek in Brooklyn, a federal Superfund site. In collaboration with the Newtown Creek Alliance, it fabricates floating bio-remediation experiments in the English Kills tributary located in the Bushwick/East Williamsburg neighborhood.
Henry will present videos of the egrets, ducks, geese, killifish, shrimp and mussel ecosystems that exist in NYC’s most polluted waterway. Participants are invited to draft designs for constructed wetlands and public access on design templates. Come learn about the discovery of new mussel colonies, the existence of a natural spring, and the potential for floating habitats in English Kills!
